In conjunction with national Water Week 2018, Earth Systems sponsors the 26th Annual AWA Water Symposium in Oxnard on April 19th. The Association of Water Agencies (AWA) of Ventura County hosts the event each year. The professionals at this symposium represent the surrounding local communities, water agencies, and business. More importantly, this annual affair provides a forum to advocate for area policies pushing for clean and safe water, as well as ensure a healthy sustainable environment on the Central Coast.
“National Water Week is April 15th through the 21st this year,” states Patrick V. Boales, Managing Principal at the Earth Systems office in Ventura. “Water might be our most valuable natural resource. Careful investments in our water infrastructure are crucial. This AWA Symposium gives our community leaders a chance to get together to advocate for clean, safe, affordable water policies.”
26th Annual AWA Water Symposium
First of all, the stated mission of the Association of Water Agencies is “To develop and encourage cooperation among entities for the development, protection, conservation, and improvement of the total water resources for Ventura County.” Therefore, this Annual Water Symposium gathers all the community leaders together on water issues at a local and regional level.
Especially relevant, the AWA was formed in 1976 to provide a forum for the exchange of information on coastal water issues. It pulls together various water-related entities such as agriculture, municipalities, water districts, industrial water users, etc. The 26th Annual AWA Water Symposium takes place at the Courtyard Marriott in Oxnard, California.
Water Week
Also, Water Week kicks off with a National Water Policy Fly-In, April 17 – 18, 2018 in Washington, DC. Ultimately, this event is the time policymakers, the EPA, Members of Congress, and Administration officials hear about the many challenges faced by the U.S. water infrastructure. Consequently, issues include funding, regulatory affairs, affordability, and research. Furthermore, it is a collaboration between the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA), the Water Environment Federation (WEF), and the Water Research Foundation (WRF).
