Historically, this hot spring provided the Cahuilla Indians with clean water, healing waters, and a sacred connection point. For thousands of years, this tribe has had a critical relationship with the Coachella Valley, the desert, and the natural environment. This project and article shows how the tribe is also investing in the future.
The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians is a historic tribe based in Palm Springs. me•yah•whae translates from Cahuilla as “hello” and is pronounced “ME-yah-way”.
