Earth Systems is participating in the 9th Annual Imperial Valley Renewable Energy Summit. It is hosted by the Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation (IVEDC) at the Palms Hotel & Resort in Holtville, CA (near El Centro). The Summit takes place March 9 – 11, 2016.
The Summit hopes to continue the effort of the IVEDC to become the renewable energy capital of the nation. It brings together informative programs and knowledgeable speakers to delve into the issues of the renewable energy industry. There are also tours highlighting sustainability, energy efficiency, geothermal, and the benefits of the Salton Sea.
With an abundance of natural resources, the Imperial Valley has numerous opportunities for renewable energy including geothermal, solar, and biofuels. This area offers:
- the second largest geothermal energy producing county in the nation (generating over 500 megawatts);
- over 360 days of annual sunshine for solar energy generation;
- nearly 500,000 acres of productive farmland and a year-round growing season for biofuel production; and,
- a prime location near the Salton Sea, which has the ability to produce over 2,000 megawatts.
